India: Kerala & Western Ghats, India, Film: “Elephants of Kerala” (9 days)

Objectives: We are continuing our survey and filming of the plight of Kerala and Western Ghat elephants - the captive and the wild ones. Guests can join us and be witness to the documentary film process, and even lend a hand!  Professional cameramen, filmmakers and technical experts are invited to join our project at a discounted price, depending upon experience and our needs.

Important Dates: The tour begins on Jan 30 in Kochi and ends Feb 8 in Kochi (Kozhikode). 

You are responsible for securing your own tickets from the U.S. (or elsewhere to Kochi, India.  Please arrive as early as possible in the day.  You will be picked up at the airport and brought to a beach hotel.  The next day you will join Philip and be shuttled to the filming and survey locations, either in the Western Ghats (about 5 hours away) or more nearby.

Flying Strategies: Some people will purchase R/T tickets from the US to Chennai, then separate tickets from Chennai to Kochi, as well as Kochi back to Chennai at tours’ conclusion.


Kerala/Western Ghats Tour Cost and what’s included

The cost is $1,650 or discounted to $1,400 for early bird sign up (by Nov 1).  Airfare is extra - we will help you find the appropriate flights and the best prices.  The cost for any personalized services, like Ayurvedic spa treatment, messages, salon services, surf lessons, surfboard rental or alcoholic beverages is your responsibility.  Accommodations, meals, safari's, park entrance fees, translator, and ground transportation is all included in the fee.  This price is based on double occupancy - shared room, single room surcharge is $180.
